Thank you Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio!

Louie Giglio and Chris Tomlin have done fantastic jobs in their past concerts highlighting the greatness of God as displayed in the universe.  Chris makes sure to make the concerts a worship service, not just a time for us to be entertained.  He wants you to praise God while you are there.

In “How Great is our God” and “Indescribable” concerts, Chris in his songs and Louie in his message, focus on the creation of God, specifically the galaxies and the sun.  Louie compares the earth to a golf ball and shows that it takes a G-ZILLION golf balls to fill up the sun and other stars in other galaxies.  How great is our God!  How huge He is!

Louie also talks about  “Laminin”.  What’s laminin, you say?   I had never heard of this before I listended to the DVD talk of Louie’s.  Laminin is your body’s cell-adhesion molecules. It is the “glue” that holds all the cells in your body together. Do you know what is so incredible about this? It’s in the shape of a cross. The “glue” that holds your skin together, that holds your organs together, that literally holds everything in your body together, is a cross!  SO COOL!

But the concert I went to on February 17th with my daughter, her friend and my daughter-in-law (“And If Our God Is For Us”) focused on all creation singing His praise.  We were reminded how we at that concert were joining all of creation in praising God.  Every snowflake that falls.  The songs of the whales in the ocean. The sound of a flower bud opening.  Birds.  Wind.  Rustling leaves.  Lapping waves.  The rocks rolling down the mountain.  The furthest galaxies…. the satellites pick up the sound they make.  On and on and on.

And I am reminded that as I sit alone in my living room singing the songs and playing the guitar that the Lord has given me these past few years, that I too join the sound of creation.  I am so blessed to be reminded of that.  Thank you Chris Tomlin and Louis Giglio.

Something happened to me on Monday.  So the next morning I asked the Lord,  “Holy Spirit, please help me clearly understand what that was all about yesterday.”  This is the verse He gave me:  “Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples.  …….. Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day…… tell of His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.”  1Chronicles16:8-14,23-24

So, here is my story:

I was troubled.  “My spirit is broken.” Job 17:1; “My spirit grows faint.” Psalm 77:3  Have you ever been there?  Yes, I was troubled.  But I couldn’t get my finger on the source of it.  So I went to my Church.  To spend some time with the Lord.  I started listening to some Christian music.  I put a CD in the CD player, sat back and let the music minister to me.  Soon the tears were coming.  I felt the ministering touch of Our Lord.

It felt like when I hold my 3-month old grandson in my arms.  It looks like this:  My grandson is crying, and I’m rocking him, cradling him, saying, “shhhhhhhhhh……..shhhhhhhhh.”  Suddenly his eyes meet mine.  He “sees’ me and he quiets.  He smiles.

That’s what it felt like in Church.  I was being held, rocked and cradled by my Abba Father.  He was saying, “shhhhhhh………shhhhhhhhh” to my spirit.  Suddenly I “saw” Him.  And I knew it was going to be O.K.  And I smiled.

Then something else happened.  A woman stopped by the Church.  She said the Holy Spirit was prompting her to come.  She wanted to give a tithe, a very generous tithe.  I am the Church treasurer so I accepted it with much thanks to God, smiling inside because I love seeing God at work, ‘providing’ for a financially struggling Church.

Maybe I’m reading too much into her visit, but I don’t think so.  I know there are no ‘coincidences’ with God.  I’m certain God wanted our paths to cross.  First, the only reason I was there is because my troubled spirit led me there.  Otherwise the Church would have been locked.  Second, the reason she came was the Spirit was leading her to go.  By the prompting, working and leading of the Holy Spirit, two women who don’t really know each other that well, met.  We shared our struggles with each other and encouraged each other.

I’m not sure I know what exactly happened:  all I know is God ministered to me; she gave money to God; and God ministered and encouraged her through me.  Whatever happened, it was wonderful!

THUS:  “….make known His deeds among the peoples.  Sing to Him, sing praises to Him.”

Thankful Thursday

This is my first post to Thankful Thursday.  I have been struggling with what to write.  There ARE SO MANY THINGS.  But by far, the #1 thing I am thankful for is that I have peace with God, because of Jesus.  Any of the things listed below could be taken away, but nothing can separate me from the love of God.  FOR ETERNITY!  HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!!??  My prayer is everyone reading this will know about this peace with God.  If you don’t, ask Jesus for it right now.  He is standing at the door, knocking.  Let Him in.  You will begin a walk with Him that nothing in this world compares to.

Below is an earlier post (1/29/09) and it pretty much expresses just some of the things I am thankful to God for.

  • He placed me in my mother’s womb, and then in a very special family, and because of that family, I am who I am.
  • He sent an amazing man, Al, to be my husband.  A man that for that past 40 years has been devoted, committed and shown me what unconditional love is all about.
  • He gave me 4 amazing children.  Amazing daughters and son-in-laws.  Four amazing grandchildren.
  • He has brought such amazing people into my life over the years.
  • MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, He has given me His salvation.
  • He gives me this amazing relationship, where He guides me, teaches me, speaks to me, loves me.
  • He gives me songs.
  • He gives me stories.
  • He’s given me an amazing Church, a place where I can be with other men, women and children who are madly in love with Him.
  • He’s given me an amazing home, and amazing little town on a river to live in and a job I love.
  • He’s given me His amazing grace.
  • Yes, Our God is an AMAZING GOD!  And I am so thankful for that.

    Psalm 105:1-5

This is why I decided to start my own blog: Psalm 105:1-5

    Psalm 105:1-5  says,

“Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness.
Let the whole world know what he has done.
Sing to him; yes, sing his praises.
Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
          Exult in his holy name;
rejoice, you who worship the Lord.
          Search for the Lord and for his strength;
          continually seek him.
Remember the wonders he has performed,
his miracles, and the rulings he has given….”

I can do that here.  I can tell about the things He teaches me every day.  I can testify on how He changed my heart.  In 2000, I was a former USDA loan officer, who was just finishing up a 4 year paralegal college course and working on a USDA governmental task force our of Washington, D.C.  Then suddenly, after nearly dying, my life direction, focus and occupation changed.
God began inspiring me to write songs.  They would just come into my head as if I were seeing them on a big screen.  Out of the blue I got the idea to buy a guitar.  I had never played the guitar before.  My son taught me a few chords.
Now, three years later, I have written over sixty songs, to music.  There are songs that praise God.  There are songs that cry out to Him.  Recently I found some old journalling notes from 1998 and 1999.  At the time, I was receiving counseling for depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress due to childhood issues.  My counselor told me to go home and write a story- anything that came into my head.  “The Little Red Crab” was born, the first of 19 stories of animals and ojects with human emotions and personalities, endearing little characters trying to overcome their fears.
You will meet some of these characters in this blog.

So I decided to start my own blog.  Here I will share my songs and stories.  Here I will share how I hear the Lord speaking in my life.  I will be real and I will be honest.
